Wow!!! A LOT has happened in the past year and a half! But that is part of why I love writing.... what a GREAT way to look back and reflect on the many MANY ways God has blessed our lives!

Until next time~

25 Random things about me:

1) 3rd grade teacher (Mrs. Richardson) was my favorite teacher and my inspiration to become a teacher.

2) Want to be on a game show. Either Wheel of Fortune with my younger brother or Family Feud with all 3 of my brothers and my dad.

3) Like my chocolate COLD! Any peanut butter cups or Little Debbie snacks that are brought into the house are kept in the refrigerator!

4) Piano playing and journaling are tremendous therapy for me.

5) I am highly competitive when it comes to playing cards, especially if it’s Spades or UNO.

6) My dad still lives in the house we moved into when I was in Kindergarten.

7) Favorite movie is “A Walk to Remember” (minus the first 20 minutes or so). “Steel Magnolias” is a close second.

8) Would LOVE to spend a year on the road in an RV homeschooling my kids.

9) Want to learn how to sew. Nothing elaborate, just simple stuff.

10) Really miss being a Creative Memories Consultant.

11) LOVE taking pictures.

12) Used to think I hated reading. Thankfully I’ve realized otherwise.

13) I have never colored my hair. (Beginning to show a little gray so that might change soon… haven’t decided yet.)

14) Love poetry. Helen Steiner Rice and Susan Polis Shultz are 2 of my favorites.

15) Cheddar’s is my favorite restaurant. (Love the Chicken Tender Appetizer and their onion rings)

16) Feel I have a “knack” for finding songs to express what I typically cannot express on my own.

17) Play the piano mostly “by ear.”

18) At almost 40 years of age, I am learning (attempting to learn) Spanish.

19) Became best friends with a new student in 6th grade. We had all but one class together. I had band… she had art. 30 years later we are still friends!

20) Show Choir made it all the way to state my senior year and lost 1st place by one tenth of a point to a local high school.

21) I envy people with pretty teeth.

22) I enjoy singing duets or in small groups. Don’t like to sing alone, enjoy small groups because you can really harmonize.

23) Enjoy fast rides, and it’s even ok if they go upside down or backwards, but can’t handle the “dropping” sensation like on “the Cliffhanger” at Six Flags.

24) Would like to be in a play at our local theater someday.

25) Seriously considered becoming a nanny.

What does the Tims family do when we get together? Play cards! UNO (Colorado style) is my personal favorite, with Spades being a close second.

(L to R - oldest brother Joey, nephew Joel, older brother Troy, nephew Jonathan and younger brother Tony)

The Tims' by marriage (aka in-laws) played Scattegories after we SKUNKED them in UNO.

2 sisters in law + 2 nieces + 2 of my 3 kids + 1 nephew = LOTS OF FUN!

We made it to Fort Worth, only stopped once and made it in 6 1/2 hours. That's my kind'a trip!

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Well.... here we go again. This time, I'm afraid it's gonna be more like Hurricane Rita.

We'll be leaving here in the next few minutes and praying for an easier drive. We are going a "different" way, one that is a little out of the way but usually has less traffic (it took us 9 1/2 hours to get to Fort Worth and back for Gustav). At this late hour, hopefully the kids will sleep and the adults can stay awake!

We made it home safely and it only took us an extra 2 ½ hours...

We have to evacuate... please pray!

Been up since about 1:30 this morning preparing to evacuate. Cooking food from the fridge so we don't lose it AND so we can limit our stops on the way to Fort Worth.

I am hoping we can be on the road around 10:00 am, which is still 2 hours ahead of the special needs and voluntary evacuation. When I left for Hurricane Rita, I left a few hours after the voluntary evacuation notice and it took 3 1/2 hours longer than usual to make it home. We're a little further south, but ahead of the evacuation notice so pray we can still make good time.(3 active kids + long time in the car = NO FUN!)

In addition to praying for traveling mercies, I would ask that you please pray for our church congregation and especially our Pastor. Our Pastor's grandmother passed away earlier this week and we were scheduled to have a Memorial Service this morning at 11:00, with a burial in Georgia Wednesday morning. In addition to "Maw Maw's" passing earlier in the week, we lost another Senior Saint last night. Our church building and the homes of many church members suffered pretty good damage from Hurricane Rita so it makes this evacuation even more emotional.

P.S. I guess Hurricane's would be another "con" for that list I spoke of in my previous post!
